It is possible but it is not supported by the DVD-Video standard.

    "16:9 (all formats except 352 pixels/line)"

No, you will have to encode it as a letterboxed 4:3 image.

    @ mickle,

If your watching on your PC monitor. . .

A 352x480 - 16:9 will play fine and correctly inside PowerDVD only. Provided
that you follow the setups, should work find on your PC monitor
Ignore the sample D/L's :P and just following the PDVD setup. - link below.

If you're watcihng on your TV set. . .

Then, I'm afraid that you cannot view it properly. And, each dvd player
will result in it's own tempertantiums. You'll have to encode it to 720x480.
It won't work very well w/ 704x480, as I've tried. Also, if your encoding
for MPEG-2, you'll have to author as a DVD (not SVCD)
If you author w/ SVCD (or w/compliance off) it will be a hit or miss deal.
And note, that w/ SVCD (or xSVCD, be it 704x480 or 720x480) you will no
doubt, get different output formats ie, less bars in one place, or more bars
in another. I found that if I first put in a 2.35:1 DVD title, and poped in my
    xSVCD (720x480 w/ 16:9 2.35:1) MPEG-2 encoded disk, it would play as
a 2.35:1 (just what I wanted) BUT, if I didn't do this first, and just poped in
my encode, I would get a 1.77:1 AR or 1.33 AR. It was hit or miss, and
that all depended upon weather I had a previous DVD title and whatever
the AR was for that disk, reflected my final AR output. So, do bare this in
    mind when playing around.
