I have 2 DVD players, one Koss and a Classic. I have an old TV that I can turn the vertical hold control and see the signals above and below the picture. When I play most movies with the Koss, when the movie starts, I see 5 horizontal white lines that are sitting about 1 scanning line above the picture. I am thinking this is the cgms/a signal, am I right? Interestingly, on the Classic DVD player these lines are completely absent. Does this mean the Classic DVD player does not have cgms/a?
Even when I take the hack off, I don't see these lines on the Classic, however, I can see the Macrovision signal, which is a rhombic shape that alternately lightens and darkens. The picture on the TV remains at a constant brightness (using rf modulator) but when the Macrovision is turned on, there is a slight tearing of the video at the bottom of the picture. Any comments and additional info on this topic would be appreciated.
