  1. I'm using 0.0.9a, and I'm having quite a bit of deinterlace artifacts on sharp diagonal lines, they all appear as a series of dashes rather then one solid line. I'm encoding directly from VOB to Xvid, with the following options:

High Quality, use B-frames, 4 motion vectors, 2 pass, Trellis quantization, bilinear scaling, and SSE.

Is this an inherent limitation of the deinterlace filter? Any suggestions on how to improve it?

    Thanks,

  2. Try both the DivX deinterlace and the fast DivX deinterlace.

I tried the fast DivX as well, but it did not encode at all. It looks like the progress indicator in the ffmpegX window grinds for a few minutes, then the ffmpegX Progress window pops up, and jumps straight to finished. The resulted file is 0 size.
