Philips 642 DVP Couple questions ! ! ! :-)

I purchased Philips 642 DVP player and upgrade that firmware from Philips web site http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=DVP642/37&scy=&slg=ENG&tmplt=...DVD_PLAYERS_SU , and after that I unlocked my Philips 642 to work for All Regions .

My question 1. is how can I know which DIVIX software is running right now in my DVP player is that 3.1 or 5.1 and is there any chance to upgrade that now or in future?
2. When will Philips 642 will work with qpel codec?
3. What is Macrovision?
4. Can Philips DVP 642 play Double Layer DVD+R 8.5 Gig?

(1) It says in the manual which versions it will handle. Basically v3.x through v5.x will be fine. Possibility of upgrades exists anytime a new firmware is released.
(2) I'm pretty sure the chipset doesn't support it, so never.
(3) A form of copy protection... works by screwing with the analog signal, so for example you can't run a DVD player through a VCR to record DVD's...

As to question 4, I would assume it isn't supported, although your standard store-bought dvd's are double layer, so I am not 100% certain. I still think not.
