  1. I tried to cut a MPG2 file using TMPg and only obtained the cut video file with no sound.

I have previously cut a mpg1 (vcd) file using tmpg and obtained both video and sound.

    Can anyone help here?

TMPG isnt' a very good cutter. There are several otehr apps that have better cutters: TMPG Author, Womble, MPEGVCR.

  4. I am not sure what sound it its. However, the sound(together with the video) was recorded from a VHS tape using DVD Movie factory and then onto my video capture card.

Like I noted before, TMPG cuts VCD very nicely with sound included when cut.

Any other thoughts? Any other cheaper software that can cut the mpg2 file with sound? Can TMPG actually do this?

TMPGEnc has two ways to cut video, Source Range and Merge & Cut. Did you try both ways?

  6. I tried to cut the mpg2 video by using "Merge & Cut".

The guides on this board describe this method and it works fine for VCD.(gives sound and video when cut)

What is the other method you noted?

  7. If I use the modified virtual dub, how do I save the cut file as a mpg2 file?

The "save as" function appears to only show "AVI" saves.
