  1. Hi, everybody.

I'm really new to working with DVDs, so I was hoping for some help. I recently edited a video in Adobe Premiere and I exported the video out to my desktop as a Quicktime. Then I used Toast Titanium to burn the video file onto a DVD-WR.

When I tried to play the DVD in my home DVD player, it wouldn't work. It will play on my computer in Windows Media Player, but I really want to be able to watch it on my TV.

What did I do wrong? I'm thinking that it has to do with the file format. What type of file format should I export the video as? Is there anything else beyond the file format that I need to fix in this process.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  2. The file will need to be a DVD-Compliant MPEG2. Instead of exporting the finished product into quicktime format, either export it as an MPEG2 or as an uncompressed AVI and then encode it to an MPEG2 with something like CCE, TMPGENc or MainConcept.

After you do that you'll have to author the MPEG2 files which will create your proper DVD structure, which then can be played in a stand alone DVD player.

One more thing. While testing with a DVD+-RW is a goos thing, make sure that your player can read them.

For more detailed info on the encoding and authoring process, check out the guides located to your left and in the GREEN section.
