  1. Is there a file/hack to download anywhere that will disable the macrovision crap that Vegas Video 4 has? Some of my videos are macroed, and I need to be able to capture them and burn them dvd.

  2. There is no Macrovision encoding in Vegas. Sounds like you have a codec problem if you can't capture DV.

The macrovision crap as you put it is part of your original recording and affects the capturing hardware, not software (since we are talking about tapes) The problem you are having has to do with your AIW card. Video input cards are designed like VCR so you can't capture a macrovision protected tape.

If you want to verify what I say, try to capture with some other software (you should have ATI's Multimedia Center application that can capture in MPEG1 or 2)

I do not know of a piece of software that can help your AIW capture macrovision-protected content, but there are hardware "video stabilizers" that do the job of cleaning the signal before you feed it into you AIW. I've seen some for sale here in Canada at Sears for 50$ (canadian).

I may be of some help. I have a Sima Color Corrector that does the job (eighty bucks from Amazon.com). I've also found it very useful reading the guides. I came across some ATI hacks at www.lordsmurf.com (Capturing MPEG with an ATI card). I haven't had to use any of them yet, so I cannot attest to their validity. Good luck! 8)
