The Athlon XP is hands down the fastest x86-compatible processor on the planet. For CNET to suggest otherwise is simply wrong, regardless of how they source their story.

Yes and thats the exact reason why I bought a P4 and not AMD. I needed a P4 to run 3D Studio Max and Maya.

If the AthlonXP is the fastest x86 CPU then how does a dual Intel Xeon computer have the highest benchmark scores?

  10. i was wondering if any of you amd fans have ever seen a p4 in action.my 1.4 p4 blows away a 1.4 and a 1.2 amd with the DDR RAM i have seen all three systems in person an have played new games on all the systems.i think all you amd fans read benchmarks an thats were you get your opinion.dont beleive everything you read on the net.i do multiple tasks at once on my pc when i try to do those same things on my friends amd's they are VERY SLOW to respond compared to mine they all have the same amount of ram.i was gonna go amd but i spent 200.00 more for intel then my friend did with the amd 1.4 an i beleive it was well worth it after seeing his in action an my other friends 1.2 amd in action.

Comparing the CPUs purely on clockspeed is meaningless: the differences in architecture are too vast.
    How much does a 1.4 P4 cost?:-O
How much does a 1.4 Athlon cost?
A cost comparison is the best benchmark comparison for most people. For those thart price is no issue, comparing the fastet offering from both is fairer.
Im nuetral on the matter, until next year when I buy a new system.
