  1. I am new to this, I hear guides from DVD to SVCD saying Frameserving. What is that? Can you Frameserve with CCE 2.5 and feed it into TMPGEnc? Does not make sense to me at all. Where does CCE 2.5 fits into the whole procedure becuase people talk about it being the best encoder for SVCD.

    Thanking you in advance.

Frameserving is 'frame' 'serving'. It means to 'serve' frame by frame to an external video encoder or program. It will send frames of a video to a different encoder or program. Only certain programs support frameserving such as VirtualDub or FlasKMPEG. CCE and TMPGEnc cannot frameserve since they are only encoder, they encode video/audio only.

  3. Thanks Jeomite for that very useful information. What programme can I use to frameserve into CCE 2.5 ? Because I am fed up using DVD2SVCD, it crahses and take tool long. Remember tha aim is to make SVCD by step by step. If the step crashes I can go back redo it again rather than having to start from scratch as in the case of DVD2SVCD. What are the steps involve?

    Thanking you in advance.

  6. Come on now. You click on the link. Read as much as you can. There's a side bar that says "Download". It's not hard. You got here didn't you.

My main purpose is tv capture, I haven't done dvd2svcd much it takes toooooo loooooong, but i think you will still need to convert the vob files to avi/mpeg. Maybe some of the more advance ppl can help.

  7. Thanks for that RaleighNC, it does not help. I have read all these guides. I want to which programme can I use to frameserve into CCE 2.5 (Now that I know that it encodes). Then once I do that what is next to convert DVD to SVCD. These are simple questions for experienced guys out there so come on help.

    Thanking you in advance.

  8. You can frameserve to CCE w/ either Virtual Dub (more user friendly but slower) or AVISynth (much faster, but script based).

For VDub take a look at:
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/virtualdubframeserve.htm

For Avisynth take a look at:
    http://www.math.berkeley.edu/~benrg/avisynth-tutorial.html
    http://www.math.berkeley.edu/~benrg/avisynth-reference.html

There's also a GUI to make AVS (the avisynth script file) called Gordian Knot. I haven't used it but people seem to like it. You can find info about Gordian Knot at:

  9. Many thanks Vejita-sama. Assuming I frameserve using one of those apps, then encode using CCE 2.5, what comes next in converting DVD to SVCD? If you don't mind please tell us all steps required.

    Thanking you.
