  1. Does anyone know of a program that converts video frames to high quality pictures? I have tried using Ulead video studio and Pinnacle Studio 8, but the pictures they generate aren't very good. Does anyone have any ideas?

Pictures from video are rarely good. Resolution is usually only 640x480 quality (approximate equivalent). If your source is poor, like from VHS, then the quality will be terrible.

You could maybe touch things up in Photoshop, but thats usually futile.

blow it up using S-Spline (not photoshop) and then clean it up in photoshop

we have blown up video frame grabs to large poster size this way and they look good ... lot of retouching though

Standard Def resolution is 72dpi or 150dpi for Hi Def so it very difficult to increase the res to a high quality picture. I think print companies scan the image onto a drum and can blow it up to very large sizes without loss of quality(correct me if I am wrong).

  5. I'm not intersted in a picture of better quality than the video, but would like the picture to be the same quality as the video. The pictures I have gotten so far are by far much worse. Any ideas?

  7. Any ideas of free programs that enlarge photos? I have been successful in getting a better picture using Snagit 7 when viewing the movie in a player. So, I was thinking that if I had a better player, the pictures would turn out better. Any ideas for a movie player that displays videos well when paused?

  10. vhelp,

I am obtaining my video through a DV camcorder. My source is digital video. I'm not sure about the other questions you asked.
