    Hi all,

I've tried searching the forums for some kind of help/answer but I've come up with nothing so far. I recently bought a DVD burner. I've burned a couple of DVD's for my niece and to my great surprise & delight they've worked with her TV/player set up (even the NTSC ones). Anyway, my nephew has borrowed one or two to play on his PC but the PC doesn't want to know. I'd assumed that putting them in a PC would be the safest bet to watch them. I've also copied one an NTSC one for a friend who only uses a PC for DVD and it works fine. Is my nephew having a problem viewing because of the software player he's using? Or I'm wondering if certain video cards can only display PAL and not NTSC, or vice versa. BTW, I'm in the UK. I'm not sure which DVD's he can't view, NTSC/PAL? I'll tell him to try one that I know is in PAL format. Anybody have any other ideas

    great :c)

Have your nephew try PowerDVD or Win DVD. You're lucky to not have to worry about NTSC or PAL. Most players/TVs in UK play both.

And it makes no difference which is played on PC either. So you should be fine.

OK, cheers, I'll tell him to try other software. Not going to know the result for a few days though, he's too poor to be online & lives the other side of the country.

Sometimes you can find versions of PowerDVD on coverdiscs that come free with various PC/gaming mags. Usually older versions without the latest/greatest features. But that may be an option for him.

    Good luck. :c)

Hey Gees, sorry that it's taken me so bloody long to get back but my stupid nephew has just let me know that the DVD-ROM drive on his PC is belly up. It seems that's the reason for the problems. Still having 100% success with making DVD's for others.
