  1. I have Nero 6 with the latest updates and have been trying to capture MPEG2 Video from an AVER 203 capture card without success

The video plays fine in the window in Nero but when I start the capture the colour goes and green lines appear accross the images

I have tried every permutation possible (PAL) some are better than others but none give me satisfactory results

I am presently using the AVER capture progeam which is reasonable but would feel better using NERO which I use for the rest of the conversion

    Can anyone help please

    Phil

Geesh! Nero is basically an application for putting data on writable CD and DVD media. Why do everyone insist on using it for things it's not good at? (Sorry for the rant.)
To put mildly - there are better applications for video capturing.

  3. Thats fine and I accept that Nero is not good at everything but it should offer basic capture facilities. I'm not after bells and whistles but captures tinged in green with wavey lines dosn't come close

we don't all have a bottomless pit of money to keep buying software

I've have used the trial of TMPGENC to author and its far superior to Nero but i can't run to another 40 odd quid and therefore persist nero

Is there anyone who can offer me constructive advice on capturing using Nero

Use Virtualdub for captures, it's free and amazingly useful for other things as well.

  5. I have two questions for you:

    1. What equipment are you using to capture? This is very important as video capture is a very processor intensive item. A 1GHz machine would be very hard pressed to cope. It's especially important if your capture uses software encoding rather than hardware encoding.

    2. Did you turn off the monitor function? This will take processing power that can better be used by the capture software.

And what capture card? The processor is certainly acceptable, but to repeat what I said earlier did you try with the video monitoring off?

Hmmmm! I had difficulty finding the data on that card as it isn't listed on this site. I also notice that Nero are talking about a major upgrade of their software for video handling due out in December so all I can really suggest is to wait until then and see if that sorts the problem (sorry!) alternatively may I suggest that you go to the Ulead web site and download their Moviefactory Trial software and see if that gives any better results.

I'm sorry to say that you've gone beyond my abilities to help.

Make sure you have the latest drivers for the AverTV 203 Current is 4.1 also your Motherboard and of course the latest NERO. I have the Hauppauge and the Software encoder cards can be very pickey about drivers and Computer usage while Capturing.
