  1. First, I'd like to say hello to everybody, since i'm new to this board.

Here is the software that I'm using:
    - Latest Virtual VCR for capturing video
    - Latest btwincap driver
    - VirtualDub & Dubman for bulk processing
    - Once resized and filtered, will use Premiere to finalize montage and compress the video

    Here's what I'm doing:
    - Capturing @ 640 x 480 - 30fps (no dropped frames!)
    - No compression, RAW AVI
    - Analog content from VCR using composite signal
    - Using UYVY color

    Here's my system info:
    - CPU: Athlon XP 2100+
    - Mobo: Asus A7N8X Deluxe
    - Hard Drives:
    - 1 x 60GB Quantum AS
    - 2 x 120GB SATA Maxtor w/ RAID 0
    - RAM: 512MB PC2700
    - Video: Geforce3 Ti 200
    - Audio: SB Live Value
    - Capture: Hauppauge WinTV Radio
    - OS: XP Pro w/ patches

    Here's my problem:
When I playback my uncompressed AVI videos that I just captured, after a few seconds they will start to stutter, speed up, stop, speed down. Repeat for duration of video. I find it hard to beleive that I don't have enough power to view a 30 fps video with my current setup. I've tried reading the videos off the RAID drive and I'm still getting this problem.

Can someone help? This would be my third online forum

  2. In another forum, someone has suggested that maybe I don't have enough resources to read the video adequatly thus I get these slow downs, freezes in my video? I mean come on, why would one get a RAID array then?
