  1. Hi everyone!

    I have a CCTV system with a not very good motion detection, so unless I'm watching it I don't know what's happened. It's constantly recording, and I want to look through the video files from the camera.

    But, not even my CCTV software player has playback that goes fast enough for me to be able to get through all the video files in less than a few months.

    So, I was wondering if anyone knows of any playback software that lets you have more control over playback speed, and really speed up the video!

    The videos are Microsoft MPEG4 VKI codec, and I'm running XP.

    Thank you for reading! Merry Christmas

  2. VLC lets you play at up to 31x. But you may have problems with very high speeds. The video can't be decompressed fast enough so the player will start showing only I frames when you go to very high speeds.

  3. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction jagabo! I guess it'll have to do until I can get some decent motion detection software

  4. You might want to give MPlayer a go.
    It suppose to be able to play up to 100 times normal.

  5. I forgot to mention, there's also a nice MPlayer mod with a native windows gui that's really nice.

    Jumping ahead several years...

    PROS::
    A GEM, work of ART is the smoothest player AOTP( 201409) gave it 44 different VID types, all played & smoothly. The settings are easy on the eyes no off screen scrolling.

    HUHS:: When adding the extra pkg make sure the extra files go in the appropriate folders ie. tools into tools folder, codecs in codecs folder. For some reason it just creates a folder "mplayer_extra_package" so one has 2 tool folders 2 codec folders.

    CONS:: no audio graphic eq/visualizations.

    Its became 1 of my 2 main player, if it adds an audio graphic EQ it'll be tops.
