Sounds like an awful long time, even if 1.2 GHz is a tad slow these days... Have you tried EasyDivX or other dvd2divx oneclickwonders? Contrary to its name, DVD2AVIs main purpose is not to encode to DivX/AVI...

yes somethin is wrong you should compress in a lot less time than that. Even on a 866 p3 I would never get 20x real time... anything else would be quicker.. you must have some filters or motion estimate set to top quality. Actually dvd2avi is NOT a good tool to use for compression use virtualdub instead.
