Have been converting avi files with hardsubs (.srt) to DVD (TS Folders) for years with ffmegX on a Mac running OSX 10.58. This past week, the process has started taking over 18 hours, when it usually takes less than an hour to convert. The resulting TS folder plays with subs and audio, but the video is only a white screen, no picture.
The only thing I can think of that I did over this period of time was to update Perian for Quicktime, so I uninstalled that; but got the same result. Browsed through this forum and found something about Perian encoding the subs, so changed the setting on ffmegX (OPTIONS>mpeg2enc options). Tried with "Decode with Quicktime" off, then with "Decode with mplayer" off, and found I could get Xvid Mencoder to work (my fall back when all else fails--even though the subs are small).
I am still waiting on a avi to DVD file to burn from last night (18 hours ago) and it's at 97% now. When it's done, I will post the Log, but wanted to post this in case there's a quick, easy answer that I didn't read. Thank you in advance for your time.

Deselecting the "Load external Subtitles" box in the Perian pref.Pane seems to have fixed the problem!
