Hi i am getting stuck on authoring i have managed to convert to a avi mpeg2. Im running tmpgenc author and manage to get a dvd film out but there is only 1 track and i want 10 or so sections to the film so if i stop watching it at any point i can just go back to the nearest section rather than forwarding through the hole file.

Do i have to do somthing i dont no of when im converting to Mpeg or is it a option i am missing in tmpgenc.

One final thing i would like to put all my plannet of the apes original films on one dvd but when i convert them to dvd format the file size jumps to 4gig and it wont let me burn them onto the dvd-r if i leave them in the avi format.

Thanks very much in advance for help
    Cheers

  2. OK, I don't use TMPGEN DVD Author, but I can give you some generic advice.

If you want "sections" as you put it, you will have to add chapter points to the DVD you are creating. This is done during the authoring process and should be relatively easy.

As for your second question, I do not know why 4 gig would give you an error. Might it be that the audio is being re-encoded as PCM and not MP2 or AC-3? This would explain why there might be a file size increase. Otherwise I'm just guessing as you'll have to be a little more descriptive in your problem for us to be of more help to you.

Did you add chapters when you were doing your authoring with TMPGEnc DVD Author? This is actually one of the best DVD authoring programs in regard to selecting your own custom chapter points. I mean it makes it really easy to do. You can also auto generate chapter points for instance in intervals of 5 minutes etc.

Well a DVD can be about 4.37GB in final total size. So if the total was only 4GB I don't know why you would be having a hard time.

How did you convert them and how were you trying to burn them?

Sorry i might of been a bit of with the problem.
I have got 5 films the planet of the apes series all in various form either avi or mpeg.
i want to put all 5 onto 1 dvd-r using Nero but it wont let me burn the movies keeps coming up with format errors. i can convert them to dvd format using TMPGenc but that puts each file to 4gig or so.
And that means i can only fit 1 film on the dvd not all 5.
Was hopping i could just make them all SVCD and just burn them onto a DVD but does not seem to work that way.

    Thanks again for the help.

Can you tell me how to auto generate chapters in TMPGEnc DVD Author?
