  1. I've downloaded a file which I can play and listen to, however, TMPGEnc always freeze at the very beginning of decoding it. So I ran the file throught VirtualDub and it gave me the message that I don't have the correct decompresser software "vfw codes" I downloaded mainconcept codes still no use. So i use AVICodec and it displayed the following info:

    File : 697 MB (697 MB), duration: 0:47:59, type: AVI, 2 audio stream(s), quality: 82 %

    Video : 565 MB, 1648 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 640*480 (4:3), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4, Supported

    Audio : 65 MB, 192 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x2000 = AC3 DVM, Unsupported

So I downloaded ac3 codec and stil no use...

    Any suggestions please?

  2. Tmpgenc cannot handle Ac3 audio (which you have). As you have the AC3 codec installed, open the avifile in GoldWave, the do save as wav and use this wav file as the audio source when you encode.
