Yes there are programs called bitrate calculators to help you about the video time you can include on one cd, the bitrate is like the frequency and if it's high the quality will be great so if you can include a video between 200o and 2500 of bitrate it'll be good enough...
Use dvd2svcd to make your svcd and you won't nee to calculate the bitrate, it does it automatically.... -
I swear, some question just dont deserve a response..especially those where people dont take the time to read the "how to" / "what is" section before they pose a question.

Calculating bitrates is easy. Example 2hr movie on 2 SCVD-discs: Number of discs (2) x size of discs in MB (800) x 1.024 x 8 (konversion into kb's) / amount of seconds (7.200) = 1.820 kb/s. Now this is for both video and audio, so if you use 224 kb/s for audio the rest is 1.596 kb/s. I usually deduct 2-3% as a buffer so that I don't have to split the movie in the middle of a scene. So use bitstream 224 kb/s for audio and 1.550 kb/s for video.
Furthermore, I use TMPGEnc's 2pass VBR, which gives me the best results. Use 0 as minimum bitrate, 2.376 as maximum video bitrate and 1.550 as average bitrate. After encoding and splitting with TMPGEnc, burn with Nero and voila!
Note! I calculate 800MB on one disc, because Nero recognizes a 80min disc as being capable of holding 800MB SVCD video. -
hi DaFoigna
i m using 2 pass vbr MPEG1 stream
I wonder what streamtype you are using MPEG1
or MPEG2 ?
Is there any difference between them ? (size an Quality)
I dont have the time to compare because 2 pass
takes a lot of time to encode (from a divxfile)
