    Hi all,
I have a weird problem with the DVD authoring part of ffmpegX.
I used ffmpegX 0.0.7d to create a muxed mpeg2 to be authored to DVD, but with that version and with version 0.0.8 it quitted with an ifogen crash (I read another topic here that is an issue to be fixed)
I tried again to author that mpeg2-muxed file to DVD, but no results. All I obtain is an endless spinning wheel in the ffmpegX window and a directory with the .DVD suffix and a zero byte .VOB file.
In the terminal window I see the dvdauthor task , but it "apparently" does nothing, I waited for 5 hours (my machine is a dual 800MHz G4)...

Can you please help me? Do I have to download Sizzle or something else?

    Thanks in advance

Did you run the installer again ? Binaries have to be updated.

Because mpeg2enc has changed recently and ffmpegX use therefore "new" arguments.
ffmpegX 008 won't work with the "old" version of mpeg2enc. I experienced this, however, not with the same symptoms as you had.

    Hope this helps.

Yes, I downloaded and installed the new binaries, for mp2enc and re-downloaded the mencoder and mplayer.
When I installed them it gave me the error message "Run again the installer and make sure it is running on your primary hard disk and you're entering the correct OSX login password", I re-run it and it was successful.
I don't know if this can be the issue...

  4. Update to ffmpegX 0.0.8b. It uses a new component for DVD authoring.

    hi major,
it is 0.0.8b I'm using now, and I retried. It's about half an hour it's been started, but only a folder with the structures (AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS) , with the later one with a zero-byte file (VTS_01_1.VOB) has been created.
top shows ffmpegX with more than 100% cpu usage and dvdauthor with 0% alternating 2%... should I wait again for hours and hours or give it a rest? btw, the ffmpegx window is busy with the spinning wheel...

thanks a lot for your help

  6. It should take less than 1 minute in most cases. If you have any opportunity to make me download your file, I can check what's going wrong. Send me an email to major4@mac.com

hi major, thanks for your help.
I did a complete erase of all ffmpegx components (prefs included) and reinstalled 0.0.8b two times.
I'm still having the same problem with the dvd authoring. If I start the process from scratch (extract the VOB and do the dvd encoding and re-authoring) the application crashes on ifogen (I'm attaching the error down here). If I take the two separate m2v and mp2 files, and choose Author as DVD and click author, there is a process , dvdauthor, created, but it doesn't do nothing for more than an hour, except to create the empty folders as stated.
I can't send you the VOB (I don't have a fast connection at home), nor I have a website. What can I do else to debug the error for you? If I can help you... I'll be glad !
thanks a lot in advance (my machine is a dual processor G4 - 800Mhz, 1GB RAM and 120GB+80GB Hard Disks)

hi major, I'm back. Using version 0.0.9a, still having the same problem of not authoring to DVD. I created an m2v and mp2 for one of my movies, muxed them to DVD as one mpg, and when I choose it to author the program spins the wheel for one second then says DONE without actually doing nothing at all.
No creation of any VIDEO_TS folder, the checkbox has a mark indeed....
    Can u help me?
    tks in advance

  12. Hmm, normally the mux tool is "mux and author", so if you enable the author checkbox and then mux it should also author.

hi major, I just had the opportunity to do what you suggested and it worked right after I deleted the space that was in my Hard Disk (going from 'Vapor Trails' to 'VaporTrails' was the solution)
Thanks a lot for your support!
