Hi
I am new to all this so please forgive any newbie questions![]()
i am using premiere elements 3, i have captured several short clips with a samsung dv camcorder and have loaded a simple template which shows the various scenes. The dvd preview works fine and all the menu options work fine.
However once i have burned the dvd it will not play in either my dvd player (says check disc) nor windows media player (says unknown dvd and hangs)
I have tried creating an autoplay dvd (without menus) and this does the same thing. I CAN browse the dvd's in windows and can see the VOB files.
I also tried the option to burn to a folder so i could use Nero6 to create the dvd but it reports that some of the files are not compatible for dvd authoring (cant remember the exact message at the mo, sorry) it then just copied the VOB files (none of the files in the OPENDVD folder are copied)
I really hope someone can shine some light on my problem.

My first suggestion would be to look to the upper left on this page in 'WHAT IS' DVD and see if your files are DVD compliant. I assume the VOBs are inside a VIDEO_TS folder. You can also burn that folder with ImgBurn in 'Build' mode.
What brand and type of DVD media are you using?
And welcome to our forums. -
Thanks for the reply - have found this forum to be very informative and have learnt more here in 1 day than weeks trawling through instuction manuals
I've checked the files and they are inside a VIDEO_TS folder and all appear to be compliant. The files i think Nero was complaining about were in the OPENDVD folder that premiere creates on the image with what looks like the menu images etc.
The discs are Sony DVD+R (DPR120N2) I'm ordering some DVD-R disc 'just in case'.
I'll have a look at imgBurn when i get a chance later today

Looks like it WAS copying ok after all
Have tried the disc in another DVD player and it worked. So it looks like i had 2 problems, an old DVD player that did not support the disc and a screwy install of Media Player.
Sorry if i wasted anyones time -
Not a problem.
Older players can be a little picky about media. You might try DVD - media with it.
If you have a valid VIDEO_TS folder, you can put about anything outside of it on the DVD disc, but some applications may have a harder time burning it. A set top player will just ignore anything except the contents of a VIDEO_TS folder.
I don't use WMP for much of anything. It can be problematic at times. You might get a copy of VLC media player. It will play about any format and uses it's own codecs, so nothing extra to install. It's handy to have around when nothing else will read a file.
And you will find out that just because a DVD will play on the computer, that's no guarantee that it will play on a set top player. Most software players can tolerate a corrupted file or missing frames and you may not notice.
