  1. Just a week ago I switched over from a windows pc to a brand new 15" Powerbook G4. Now when I had my windows pc, I just used DVDX Copy to backup all of my dvd movies.

However, now that I have a Mac I can't seem to find a program that does everthing at the press of a button much like that of DVDX Copy. So I came here to this forum and started reading up on what programs I need and how to use them etc...

So I am now aware that I need a copy of DVDBackup to rip the dvd to the harddrive, then use DVD2One after that. And then use Toast 6.0 Titanium to burn the dvd.

I am not able to get my copy of DVDBackup to work for some strange reason. I have followed the guide on how to use this program, but when ever I try to open DVDBackup nothing happens. I have downloaded this program from multiple sites trying to see if I got a bad or corrupted file. But after trying 4 different downloads from three different sites, I keep having the same problem with trying to open DVDBackup.

I am running Mac OSX, so if anyone knows of anything that I may be doing wrong, or something elese that I could be overlooking like something in the installationi or settings. I would really appreciate your help very much. Thanks to all who reply, your help is greatly appreciated.

  2. Your problem is has nothing to do with DVDBackup-- Stuffit 8.0 has a bug that makes unstuffed applications fail to open. You need to update the Stuffit "engine" to 8.01. Here's the update page:

1 button to do everything, but you get a crappy dvdxcopy warning message and its using a PC
or 3 buttons and you get an EXACT copy using a mac.

    ill take the 2nd option

oh and yea, stuffit 8 is know to have a problem unstuffing items, so follow maetel99's advice

  4. Galactica, I have to agree with you about DVDX Copy, it does ineed add that annoying screen at the beginning of every movie which sucks. But thanks to Maetel99 for providing the link and the information that I needed. I clciked the link and updated the stuffit engine and then went back and redownloaded the DVDBackup program, and now it works like a charm. Thank you for your replies, very much appreciated. Now I can rip in peace.
