  1. Hi, there.

I am doing the best that I can, but I always get two mpg files, no matter how I modify all the settings. Sometimes I don't care about great sound or video quality and don't want ot split a movie.

I use dvd2svcd in avi2vcd mode. I use c.c.e. as the encoder, because it is said to the fastest and the best. But meanwhile I am willing to change to a different program if you are succesful with it.

If anybody of you would teach me the trick please?

    Thank you.

CCE is one of the best for mpeg2(SVCD,DVD) but not mpeg1(vcd).
And if you want 1 movie on 1 cd you must create xvcd, www.kvcd.net has some good templates for tmpgenc for just that.

  3. Thanks for the information.

Can you tell me this: if I decrease the video bitrate for VCD by 400 to 750, shouldn't I then become much smaller files like I do when I change the bitrates for my mp3?

VCD is marginal at best. Lowering the bitrate makes it practically unwatchable.

There's nothing you can do to change the size of a VCD from the 80 minutes/CDR.

KVCD is another story, but it uses a different GOP among other things, to achieve more per CDR. It's also non-standard and may have an issue with your player.

Encode to mpg1 with 48000 kHz audio mpeglayer2-using TMPGenc or MainConcept to a single file.

Create DVD on HD with Ulead DVD MF- no menu-only chapters
Use DVDShrink to reduce total movie to less than 695 MB
Burn the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders to CD as data with Nero

You have a miniDVD of the movie on a single CD!!

Works quite well for upto 120 min movies without difficult to code parts.

He did not specify that his original file was an avi, I took it as he was coming straight from a dvd.

No it does not take avi files.
