  1. Hi,
I'm having difficulty with the aspect ratio when backing up a couple of Pal DVDs with Pinnacle's Instant CD/DVD v.8. The picture is 16:9 as it should be when played with the backed-up DVD on the PC but on the TV the aspect ratio is stretched to full screen. I own a Apex-500w and a 4:3 63" TV and I haven't run across this problem before. I put in Scareface afterwards and the aspect ratio was normal at 16:9. This is starting to drive me slightly mad. I checked all of the settings on the DVD player and it's set up right (4:3 TV). I can fix it by turning the TV's 16:9 enhancement ON but I've never had to do this before. I have a feeling that somehow Instant CD/DVD is not passing the 16:9 flag through correctly. This setting is set to automatic when backing up. Does anybody know what might be causing this?

  2. Would using IFO Edit to change PAL instances to NTSC fix the problem?

  3. Since no-one has any knowledge on this issue, I've researched and found out that the problem is with my Apex DVD player. It cannot convert Pal to NTSC with the right aspect ratio. The back-up DVD's play w/ the correct aspect ratio on the PC but not w/ Apex. Using IFOEdit did not solve the problem. Anyways, Apex it is.
