When using converting DVD VIDEO_TS stuff to MPEG4 (using mencoder), when the crop adjustments have been made (through the filter panel), on the video page after I've inputted the correct time of the DVD track I want to encode, and I press the Auto button and it calculates a bitrate for the video and size of the video.
However, the calculation seems to be off for 0.0.9a - when I do 1- 700MB CD, it creates files that are ~580-590 MB, when in version 0.0.8d it would create files that are 680-690 MB. E.g., I believe that the rate calculator was more accurate in the previous version.

Yes it does create different size files with the same input. After playing around with it, I think that it might be the selection of the frame rate. In 0.0.8d is defaults to NTSC FILM, in the new version it selects it based on the output of mencoder (i believe). Many of the inputs i use start as 29.9 and change after the first 25 seconds or so to the FILM framerate.
