Hi
Im looking for a new dvd writer to replace my Pioneer A05 which has died and i have narrowed it down to two writers
Pioneer DVR106 - £92.99
LiteOn LDW811S - £122.99
Which in your opinion should i choose. My a05 dieing on me has put me off the pioneer and i have had a liteon cd writer for nearly a year now and it has yet to let me down, but there is the cost![]()
Thanks in advance![]()

I'd personally get the LiteOn. Why burn at 4x when you can burn at 8x.
Don't know if the LiteOn is capable of burning 4x DVD+R discs at 8x like the Plextor, but that shouldn't be a problem as 8x DVD+R discs will be available soon anyways. -
Thanks for the reply
I was leaning towards the LiteOn drive, i was just wondering if it was worth the extra £30Your Nickname Was Never Ace, Maby Ace Hole -
Good news about the LiteOn drives.. see:

Well it looks like i wont be needing a new drive after all.
I was just about ready to order the LiteOn but i thaught i would have a last ditch attempt at reviving the old Pioneer A05, and lo and behold after taking the drive apart and cleaning it, a firmware downgrade to V1.21 and a change of buring software to Alcohol 120 % the drive is working again, but for some reason it still will not erase rw disks.
Thanks for the advice anywayYour Nickname Was Never Ace, Maby Ace Hole -
No problem. I'm happy to heard that you've got your Pioneer working again.
