  1. Hi

Im looking for a new dvd writer to replace my Pioneer A05 which has died and i have narrowed it down to two writers

    Pioneer DVR106 - £92.99
    LiteOn LDW811S - £122.99

Which in your opinion should i choose. My a05 dieing on me has put me off the pioneer and i have had a liteon cd writer for nearly a year now and it has yet to let me down, but there is the cost

    Thanks in advance

  2. I'd personally get the LiteOn. Why burn at 4x when you can burn at 8x.

Don't know if the LiteOn is capable of burning 4x DVD+R discs at 8x like the Plextor, but that shouldn't be a problem as 8x DVD+R discs will be available soon anyways.

  3. Thanks for the reply

I was leaning towards the LiteOn drive, i was just wondering if it was worth the extra £30

  5. Well it looks like i wont be needing a new drive after all.

I was just about ready to order the LiteOn but i thaught i would have a last ditch attempt at reviving the old Pioneer A05, and lo and behold after taking the drive apart and cleaning it, a firmware downgrade to V1.21 and a change of buring software to Alcohol 120 % the drive is working again, but for some reason it still will not erase rw disks.

    Thanks for the advice anyway
