  1. Hello everyone, I have a question about copying dvds. I use dvd dycrpter and dvd2one. The problem I am having is that when I am watching it will ocassionaly skip, mean like it will skip a couple frames. I was just wondering if anybody has any idea why that is happening. Thanks for the help in advance.

  2. Try another brand of media and/or change burning software (like RecordNow Max or Nero). Also I would at least give DVDshrink a try since it's free (That's all I use these days since it works so well).

Bob is right. Tiz likely cheap media that's causing yer problem. Always get the best you can. Maxell, Memorex, Ritek etc.

It's not uncommon for movies burnt on cheap media to skip or have other playback issues. Consider yerself lucky with your occasional skips...some folks lose video altogether in the middle of the flick or are unable to view the disk at all.

Best you can = the best u can afford, or the best available to you in your area. I've used oodles of Memorex DVD+R's without a single problem, and know several others with similar experiences. In fact, I backed up 3 movies just this evening using Memorex.

As you know...ANY brand of media can have a bad lot now and then. Even tho Ritek is widely regarded as the the best, I've heard/read horrible stories about Ritek media. However, I've yet to read anything anywhere explaining why Memorex should be avoided.

Therefore...in THAT context...based upon MY experience as well as what others have reported...I consider Memorex a reliable name brand DVD recordable media.

    Fair enuff?

Ah +R makes the differences. It's the -R Memorex that are junk.

Whew....that's a relief. My burner only does +R.

I know very little about the advantages or disadvantages of the 2 formats. Based upon all I've seen, it seems to pretty much be an issue of conjecture or opinion, rather than hard facts.

I've had so-called gurus tell me how moronic I was to buy a +R burner, since it is so derned incompatible. However, I've yet to find a stand-alone that won't play my backups. O well.....to each his/her own.
