Hi to all I've searched for this topic for hours and can't find it, so I've resulted to posting the question sorry for any inconviences but I need the help. I used the guide on svcd to dvd conversion and everything went smooth as can be no problems by the way I'm using isobuster v1.4,svcd2dvdmpg v1.5,tmpgenc dvd author, and nero 6.0 to burn, here's the problem when everything is said and done and i play my new fresh dvd I only get about 1/2 of screen showing on my T.V.'s at home I'm using a pioneer 106D to burn and dvd+r as my media and also this happens on a wide screen 16:9 tv and a 4:3 normal tv I have. I think the problem is when I use svcd2dvdmpg v1.5 though cause when I play the video_ts file on my player on my pc to see the video file after svcd2dvdmpg has done it's thing it's already screwed up, oh and by the way I'm selecting on my svcd2dvdmpg options the mpg^es,and I use the *720 resolution patch which by the way are not the defaults the program brings. Please help I can't figure it out. thank you....

are you re-patching to 480 after you produce VIDEO_TS folder?

Not that I know of what is re-patching to 480 this is what I do:
1)use isobuster to rip the avseq.mpg and moving all the .mpg files to a folder which I created.
2)next I use svcd2dvdmpeg v1.1.1.16608 direct the working directory to that folder I created with .mpeg files and I make sure svcd is checked, also in the in/out box I checked off mpg-^es,and last I'm using the *720 horizontal res patch setting and 1st header also.then I click start.
3)then I open tmpgenc dvd author and create new project, then click add file and direct it to my newly made .mpv file(s) for my movie adding each cd at a time.then I'm not making anything else fancy I just want 1 movie per dvd+ then I click start, and make that work.
4)Last I burn using nero 6.0 I choose dvd-video and add the files I created with dvd author(tmpgenc),I find the files under video_ts,and my audio_ts will be empty.now I select those files under video_ts select them and burn.DONE I don't know if that explains it I think there's no patching of nothing there right, and if i need to patch please guide me to where I can follow instructions.Thank you CRISSYBOY

It might have not been clear on the website but if you patch sequence headers to fool the DVD authoring software then you need to patch the headers back to 480 post authoring. (the intermediate ES or PS files from SVCD2DVD will always be "weird"). So to do this you author the ES files. Produce a VIDEO_TS folder with VOBS etc in there. Now start up SVCD2DVD, browse to the VIDEO_TS folder, choose ES or PS (in order to enable the patching section), click 480. Now click start and the VOBS will be patched back to 480. (choice of first header/entire file is dependant on what you did when you patched to 352 & whether your authoring application produces a VOB per mpg or not)

  8. Hello ChrissyBoy and fire5miami!

I have the same problem as "fire5miami" but are running svcd2dvd not svcd2dvdmpg.

When the dvd starts the menu doesn't fit on the screen,
and when the movie starts the picture on my TV is reduced an moved to the left side, i might ad that im using PAL.

Should i also "Re-patch VOB sequence headers (SVCD ONLY)", and in that case can you explain if i should patch only the header or if i should patch the entire file, because i dont know if svcd2dvd patched the first header before or not?

By the way... thanx for the last update... now i dont get only one 16 KB file in the outputfolder

chrontab: as you use svcd2dvd for authoring no sequence header patching is done. Therefore the anwser to your question is no. (unless you use another authoring package?)

Have you tried manipulating yout dvd settings? widescreen, pan & scan etc? What player are you using? Maybe someone else has the same player.....

    Thanx for your quick answer

    No manipulating.

DVD-player for burning is a LiteOn LDW-401S and
DVD-player for playing the movies is a Pioneer DV-535.

I have tried two other movies i borrowed from two different friends who are using svcd2dvd and one of this works fine but the other gives me the same problem with the picture. Maby it has to do with my TV... i dont know. I should try on another TV... but not tonight.

    Thank you for your support

As you use a Pioneer player - i suspect you need the "Pioneer fix". Apply Pan & Scan info in SVCD2DVD and set your player to 4:3 Pan & Scan

    Hi ChrissyBoy!

In your last message you said that i should apply the "Pioneer fix", (Apply Pan & Scan info).

Is the "Pioneer fix" the same as "Apply Pan & Scan info" or is there any other changes i should do in the picture below or in the other steps i do in svcd2dvd?

  15. You need to check the checkbox Apply Pan & Scan info at 3. To make it work on pioneer.

  18. Hi guys,

If the repatch to 480 does not work, then I recommend to use DVD-Lab. I found DVD-Lab handle the authoring of SVCD on DVD much better. I think DVD-Lab has a 30-day full function trial. There's a guide at their site showing you how to put SVCD on DVD. Here's the link.

    http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/tutorial/svcd.html

    Hope this will help.

    Cheers,

P.S. Here's my experience using SVCD2DVDMPG to put SVCDs on DVD. Let's say I want to put 2 SVCD movies on DVD, and let's call it SVCD-A and SVCD-B. Let's say SVCD-A has 2 parts, SVCD-A1 & SVCD-A2, while SVCD-B has 3 parts, SVCD-B1, SVCD-B2, and SVCD-B3. After SVCD2DVDMPG demux, transcode my audio to 48KHz, and pacth the header to 352 to fool the authoring S/W, I imported them to TMPGEncDVD Author. The authoring went fine, and it created 2 VOBs. I followed the instruction and repatched the VOBs to 480 using "first header" option.

Here's what I experience when I play on my DVD (i.e. Sampo 611). The first movie (i.e. SVCD-A), play fine, nothing happen, but when my player hit the start of the second part (i.e. SVCD-A2), my TV screen when to half-screen just like you guys had described. Using my remote control, I fast-forward to a little bit (or hit next chapter & back), and resume play, and the screen went back to normal. The same thing happened in the second movie (SVCD-B), the screen went berzerk every time it hit the start of the beginning of the 2nd & 3rd clips (i.e. SVCD-B2 & SVCD-B3), and I have to use my remote to fix it. I also tried this with Ulead Movie Factory 2 to author and repatch to 480 afterward, and still, the same thing happened.

Anyway with DVD-Lab, everything went smooth, I did not experience this phenomenon. My TV display fine, just like when it was an SVCD.

If DVD-Lab is hard to use, then I suggest to merge all SVCD clips in one big MPEG clip, before using all the steps in SVCD2DVDMPEG. It does work that way, but than with this approach you have to have some disk space and a good MPEG2 editor (I use M2Edit Pro).

Viper10000: you would have need to re-patch the entire files to 480 as in the middle of the resultant vobs you have the "beginning" of mpg2 (or 3) which you patched originally.

Remember you are patching to fool the authoring software - in this case TMPGEnc DVD author. The reason DVD lab doesn't suffer as you found is because it doesn't need fooling. SVCD2DVD v1.5 also doesn't need fooling
