  1. Hey guys, i'm about to go and buy some DVD+rs this weekend, perhaps online, and i'm wondering if riteks are the best according to the majority. I bought about 25 dvd+rw of the DVD-ON brand, and boy did those suck. I'm just looking for a cheap media that doesn't have a warpped ending of the dvd's as many of my dvd+rws did. The riteks are $1.23 each at supermediastore.com, are those REALLY good? because i want to buy more dvd+rs asap.

Thanks a ton for your input

Well, I've only used Ritek DVD-Rs, but they are really great, playing with no trouble on anything I put them in.

Only the best Taiwanese products are worth using, I think. Forget all those cheap Chinese imitations.

I've used +R and -R Riteks, and I will personally vouch for their quality. They have played in standalone DVD players where others have failed. And you can play them OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN, I mean REAL HEAVY USAGE, and they don't begin to skip and freeze after heavy use, like many other brands will. For that reason alone, I consider them to be among the best brands available for the money.

  4. Ritek's are known for reliability, stability, and resistance. I've talked to many people who have G01 Riteks that are years old and play perfectly even after lots of uses.

Not only that but even picky Sony players and the XBOX will play Ritek burns.

Count me out. Ritek G1 and early G3 were worse than Princo and CMC.
I only vaguely remember a G2 disc, and the quality on that was poo-poo too.
Only recently did Ritek become good, with later G3 formulas and G4 discs.

No problems with any media or format on my PS2.

Yep. I have a customer that does not even own a standalone player, and plays all the backups I make for her on her son's PS2.

I have made 50+ movies on Princo 4x discs and find them to be vastly inferior to the 50+ movies I have done on YS Power brand 4X Ritek G04s. The Ritek are an exceptional disc as they have played in ever single player I have tried, even a few exceptionally finicky JVC players owned by a friend. I have recently tried Infosmart 4X DVD-R discs (largest out of Hong Kong) and am having very good results even with finicky players. This is good news as I get Ritek G04s for $1.90 Canadian each at blankmedia.ca however I can get the Infosmart 4x for $1.30 Canadian at the same online shop. Maybe it is just the new Pioneer A06, but I have been having relatively no trouble at all with recent burns. *knock on wood*

I ordered pack of 25 purple 4x ritek +r media. There was no plastic wrap around / inside spindle. Don't know if humidity has caused problems, but discs are possible to write to point of about 3,80 of 4,37. I've not tried to burn dvd-video, only data, and it is usual that if I burn 6 .avis to disc, there is chance that one of them just won't open. Very annoying. Other files will work fine. Dvdinfo says they are Ricoh made discs. I'm not sure about how things are but I thought Ritek makes their own discs... I hope I don't have some cheapo clones...

    I'm using Nero 60019.

When I've used quality media like tdk, verbatim, maxell, HP, I haven't got any problems with dvd-video or data.
