    (N00B ALERT!!!!)

    Hi,

    Im trying my 1st DVD+R at the moment and not having much luck. I've put an xvid onto a DVD+R, whch i converted using tmpgenc, then authored in ifoedit, then burnt using nero, as a dvd-rom, udf 1.02, drag n dropped VIDEO_TS folder which contained;

    VIDEO_TS,
    VIDEO_TS.BUP,
    VTS_01_0,
    VTS_01.0.BUP,
    VTS_01.1.VOB,
    VTS_01_2.VOB,
    VTS_01_3.VOB,
    VTS_01_4.VOB,
    VTS_01_5.VOB

Checked DVD+R on PC, and played the VIDEO_TS file straight from DVD in WinDVD 4, but everything was out of sync and video motion was very fast! lol....i thought i've made a right balls of this, but i did follow everything in the guides provided, not sure where i went wrong?

My DVD Players are a Phillips DVD Q50, & Phillips DVD 623.

    Can anyone help me please

    Thanks in advance

It could be the media. But it could also be ifoedit, cause it don't make 100% compliant dvds. My pioneer wont play ntsc dvds authored with ifoedit for example.

    Hi Bladrick, thx for replying.

  4. Both your players are listed as playing DVD+R so I suspect the problem is with the settings used by Nero or a very long shot perhaps the media itself. I couldn't get Nero to install so I use RecordNow Max and all 300 or so discs I have burned both DVD-R and DVD+R play fine on the three different players I have at home. I have seen threads here on the correct Nero settings to insure discs play on the most stand alone players so maybe do a search.

Hi Bob W, thx for the reply and checking my dvd players are compliant!

However, i have checked the forums for Nero settings, and all i could find was how to burn it which i have seen already and used that method to burn my dvd+r's? I'll keep looking...

If anyone finds a page, could u please post the link, much appreciated.

    Hi Laddydaddy, thx for replying.

I tried all the settings you mentioned, except i couldnt see a setting for "No multisession", everythnig burnt successfully. Tried playing in PC 1st, playing in slow motion without audio. Then tried on dvd player and player just stops and doesnt read the dvd.

I have also tried burning on DVD Decrypter as an iso image and still no luck. I'm wondering if the problem is with original encoding done on tmpge. The movie is a ntsc movie, and i encoded it as an ntsc dvd. My dvd player is pal, but i thought this wouldnt make a difference? correct??

    I need help plz...

    Thx

  11. DJ,
In looking at your original post I see that you have no IFO files in the VIDEO_TS folder. You MUST have VIDEO_TS.IFO and VTS_01_0.IFO. Your problem probably does lie in the authoring process.

  13. I have a Toshiba SD210 DVD player which will not play DVD+R media unless I do the following:

    1.open nero and close wizard
    2.in new compilation choose DVD(obvious),dvd-rom(udf/iso)
3.under iso tab choose only iso level1 and iso9660 (tick these boxes, leave others blank)
4.under udf tab tick the force compatibility mode box and this greys out the physical
    partition portion(this is ok)
5.hit the new button at the left hand side and drag and drop your VIDEO_TS and
AUDIO_TS(empty folder) to your new compilation
6.hit the burn button and when the dialogue box appears(to set write speed etc) hit write.
7.YOU should now have a disk that should play on your set top dvd player.

This is not my information but appeared elsewhere in the fora.

I had to vary this by choosing udf rather than udf/iso to make it work.

It also proved essential (as these instructions say) to ensure that there is an empty AUDIO_TS folder burnt to the DVD.

  14. chris_de_wet, total newbie here... I have a toshiba sd210 too. I have tried this howto step by step using udf/iso on Nero 6 and the final dvd failed to play on my stand alone toshiba player. Does it mean that I need to set format to be udf only? If yes, what are the options under the udf tab.

All comments or help much appreciated as I don't want to produce to many unusual disk before I can have one playing on my standalone player...
    Thanks very much!

  15. I haven't tried Nero 6 - but as I said in my note I had to select UDF not UDF/ISO to make it work.

Leave all the defaults as they are - just make sure that you do tick 'force compatibility mode'.

Try this using a +RW disk rather than a +R disk till it works for you.

That way you don't end up with unplayable (in your 210) DVDs.

    Good luck!
