I recently acpuired the mainconcept codec as my avi files captured from my dv camcorder wouldn't play in Vdub. Now they play in Vdub but they play in slow motion, probably half speed. Anyone have any knowledge as to why that is? My files have played back at normal speed in any program I have tried, other than Vdub. I always capture in dv type 2.

Virtualdub is not meant for playback it is an editor.

Fill out your profile so we know what your working with. It may simply be your computer is too slow to play them back any faster.
Does it play back slow in a native format player???To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
I don't use Vdub as a playback device, but I have to play my files in order to edit. I have updated my profile.

I am not 100% sure what you mean by native format player. I can say that any other capture/edit programs I have played it in have been fine. I can play my files in windows media player with no problem at all. I have just started to use Vegas 4.0 for some editing and have had no problems with playback speed. It is certainly possible that my sound and video cards could be sources of problems as this computer was purchased for me, I didn't have any input. Unfortunately, both sound and video cards are onboard which I know are generally pretty cheap. The plan is to replace both as I can afford it.
