I've done some searches and haven't found an exact guide or set of instructions yet. I use the Gordian Knot bundle and extract the audio with DVD2AVI. I usually just decode it to a wav but I want to try the surround sound audio to see how much better it is. So if anyone knows of how I can encode with surround sound audio using Gordian Knot, or if I could use another program or just add surround sound audio to Divx files that I've already encoded. thanks for the help

you better using the matroska container, you can mux Divx movie with AC3 audio, the result is mkv file. You also can using the Total Core Player or Media Player Clasis to play with it.

Simplest method-demux audio with TMPGEnc MPEG tools to .ac3 file.
Use Virtualdub MPEGAC3 to create DivX avi-no audio.
Download Virtualdub AC3 through link at digital-digest
http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/virtualdub.html
Load the divx in that and load the ac3 through Audio. In Audio and video select direct stream copy and you will get the avi with divx video and ac3 audio. -
There is a program called AVI_MUX. It will multiplex a DIVX video stream with the original ac3 stream.

I'm actually drawing a blank here. you say open it with virtualdub under "audio" but virtualdub only supports WAV audio as far as I can tell.
is there an easier way to do this?Arguing on the internet is like participating in the special olympics. In the end, you may win, but you're still a complete retard.
