    I've tracked down a movie I really like, but it's Region4 PAL. Can my US Region1 NTSC DVD-ROM rip that? That is I know I can't play it (without chaning my region) but can I rip it?

    I have a Region-2-DVD in my PC and with SmartRipper i rip all DVDs.

    I was wondering that myself ... I wouldnt expect it to play, but the R1 DVD-ROM should be able to unlock the disc for SmartRipper to rip it ... Interesting idea. I should order something from the UK and try it.
