Is there a proggy to capture in 16:9 aspect or should I leave that detail to my conversion app?

Sure. My ATI MMC V8.6 has 16:9, 1.85:1 and 2.35:1, as well as 4:3, aspect ratios and are easy to set. Ulead VideoStudio V6 can do 16:9 also.
