After installing ffmpegX 0.0.9 and the associated files I have a folder named 'resources' containing two files, Welcome.rtf and ReadMe.rtf.
Welcome.rtf:

fork networking;

www.forked.net
ReadMe.rtf:
This installer will create a directory in /Applications/ for local files (if applicable) and install the application and support files in the appropriate places throughout your system. Binaries are usually installed in /usr/local/bin/
Application Notes:
nethack is installed in /usr/games/ and is normally run as the user games. See /usr/games/doc/ or nethack.org for more information.
What is the meaning of this and why are they there?

This is installed by the libogg and libvorbis installer packages (look for the "installer resources" folder in ffmpegX disk image). You can safely trash both Readme files and their parent folder.
