It's no secret around here that I collect cartoons. Today for the first time, I sat down to watch the Fantastic Four 1994 cartoon. I've had it for years, but never actually watched it front to back.

I was on episode #4 "Incursion of the Skrulls". The episode opened with a gorgeous view of New York City as it existed in 1994, as Skrull ships suddenly flew in from space, lobbing missles into the two towers, in almost the same place where they were really hit, and thus collapsed.

I swear to you, I got weak in the knees (standing at the time), my heart skipped a beat, and I dropped the remote. And I had to hit stop for a while. I don't get shaken easily, and certainly not by tv, but for some reason, it happened today.

I saw the 2nd plane live on tv the day it happened, watching MSNBC after the first one. At first, I thought it was a replay of the first one (not yet knowing few people got the first one on tape). Was actually some of the first footage I ever captured with my ATI card. I also consider it one of my most valuable DVDs.

Has anybody else had a similar experience or seen similar movies?

  2. Thats pretty weird. I haven't really seen anything like that happen but every now and then when you see a pre 9/11 tv show or movie and it shows the towers, I kinda think to myself. Weird how those towers are no longer there and all those people lost their lives. It was a horrible tradgedy and when I capture bin laden and saddam and get that 50 million then I will give baldrick 100,000 so he doesn't have to make this into a paysite :P :P

I saw a post card with a WTC stamp on it. The WTC had been cancelled by a post office stamp with a airliner. The plane on the stamp looked llike it was crashung into the WTC. The date the post card had been cancelled was before 9/11 .
    Hello.

That infamous album cover that was created in May or June of 2001

No hoax either - you see the same face in the released CNN video footage.

The movie, "Loving", filmed in 1969 captures the World Trade Center being built as a backdrop, with a few scenes shot in and around the buildings was ironically shown on cable in 2001

The comentary on the remastered version of "The Exorcist" - not really anything to do with the 9/11 attacks, but eerie.
The footage shot in Iraq (for real) and a real demonic statue (with it's history unknown) symbolic for Evil being unleased as two dogs are seen attacking each other - being the dogs of war/ Good vs Evil
Then the movie relocates to Washington DC...spooky irony from a movie released in 1973.

  5. family guy - season 2 episode 13 (2ACX12) "road to rhode island"

stewie tries to board a plane armed with a backpack full of weapons. he gets by the x-ray technicians by distracting them by singing "on the good ship lollypop. once past them he mutters "let's hope osama bin laden doesn't know show tunes." then osama bin laden comes out and sings a little tune of his own.

this was aired on may 30th, 2000. i highly doubt you'll ever see it aired on television again.. or atleast not in the near future. you can look around the internet & p2p services for the clip.

personally, i didnt get weak in the knees when i saw it, before & after 9/11. the fact that erasing everything WTC/airline/osama/saddam related is kind of stupid and not a real way to "heal".. its like suppressing bad feelings, its only going to be worse. (starting a war against iraq).

(p.s.- unless you own the dvd's containing the episode, dont pirate and get the clip off websites/p2p services)

(p.s. - i know devanshu is prolly a bit irked that he didnt get to bring this up first.)

Was that the one where stewie goes to england and brian goes after him?

Anyway, have you guys heard of the folding of the 20 dollar bill(I think) to make it look like its 2 towers burning on one side and the pentagon burning when you flip it over? One of my friends did it and I thought it was pretty freaky a while back. I remember I was in my first period presidential history class when one of the others teachers came in and said "Trade center's been hit" and my teacher went "oh shit"...lordsmurf, I also saw the second plane hit and thought the same thing.

  7. I remember the video game Command & Conquer: Red Alert had a picture of the WTC being destroyed in the background on the front cover of the box. The company recalled all copies of the games and replaced them with a new cover after 9/11.

Hey, yeah, I've heard of that $20 bill trick, but I can't figure it out. The waiter showed me at a restaurant a while back. At first I didn't believe him.

@ lordsmurf...it's kinda hard to explain in words but I'll try my best.

    1. Take a 20(obviously) and fold it in a rectangle so that the white house side is up(no jackson).

    2. Now you should be looking at the top that says "The United States of America.

    3. Fold it in a way so that you get this:
    /\
    |_|

    4. The right side should say "America" and the left should say "The United"(I think...I just unfolded the bill).

I think someone said that the trick works better w/ the old 20s.

EDIT: Here's a better illustration of step #3

  12. I still remember seeing the first newscast (minutes after the first plan hit) when they still thought it was just an accident then watching the second plane hit 15 minutes or so after that and thinking that it wasn't real.

Then staying glued to CNN for the next few hours as the details emerged and when the third plane hit the Pentagon and it was being reported as a helicopter crashing.

The two things that most stick in my head from the event though was the song I was listening to at the time of seeing the news report and also the talk we got at high school the next day from our year coordinator.
