  1. Here's the story.
Trying to create a menu for MASH Season 1 - Disc 2. This DVD has 8 episodes. I've used DVDShrink to reauther and shrink the episodes (no problem with this process). I then open DVDLAB (version 1.3 Beta) and import all 8 episodes (in VOB format), plus the main menu showing all the titles, also as a VOB.
I then create the menu using the Main Menu VOB as a background, and link all the episodes. No problems so far. I then Compile the DVD. When it gets to the end, I get the following message -

    Cannot packetize audio stream.

I tried it again, but got the same message. I then decided to just try one episode (the first), and this worked like a charm. I got the menu and the episode. So, I tried just the last one with a menu, and that worked too. I tried 2 episodes (2nd and last), and that worked too. At this point I thought that it might have something to do with all 8 episodes and the menu being too large for a dvd (shot in the dark really ), so I tried the first 7 episodes, but unfortunately I got the same error message. And just in case you were wondering... when I get the error, the resulting output is just the VOB files with no IFO files, which makes it useless.

So that's about it. The menu creating part seems to work like a charm. It just seems that it can't handle having too many episodes.

Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?

PS - This also happens with Version 1.1, so it's not the Beta version having unforseen problems.

  2. Teo things happen regularly here:
    1. Broken AC3 due to bad cutting.
    2. Messy time code that DVDLab can't fix.

    To 1. Use AC3fix
To 2. Search the DVDLab forum for various ways of correcting the time code in your mpg streams.

You might be right. I just re-authored the DVD, but only used one chapter for each episode (creating new VOBs). I Imported those VOBs into DVDLAB, created the menu, then Compiled it all with no problems.
I'll look into AC3fix, or I might just re-author the whole lot again (what's another couple of hours ).

Edit: Just had a look at AC3fix, and it seems it needs the AC3 file. Since I only have the VOB file, I might as well just re-auther, rather than de-mux the video/audio stream. We'll see what happens.

  4. I've put up to 10 episodes on one DVD with DVD-Lab and have not run into theissue that you did, so I would say we could rule out possibility of it being too many episodes.

When I import assets into DVDlab it asks to separate the files into elementary streams or not. If you select this then you should get the ac3 file.

Edit: of course the source file must have been made using this audio format to do this. Otherwise you get some other elementary stream file like .mpa.

  6. I re-authored the DVD, and had no more problems using DVDlab.

@ obiron - I did see that, but I figured demuxing/remuxing would take about the same time as re-authoring the original DVD, so I chose the latter.

If still having probs, you may want to check if 'Force audio for all movies' is enabled in the Project | Compile DVD dialogue. I've had audio assets with different properties cause problems with compile, and enabling this option has resolved the issue.
