  3. Take a look to the left under Convert. There are guides to convert from divx/xvid to MPEG2 there. Once you have the MPEG2 file take a look under Author, for guides on authoring the DVD (convert MPEG2 to VOB/IFO files).

As mentioned TMPGenc is a poplular choice for converting/encoding MPEG files. TMPGenc is free to encode to MPEG1, 30day trail for MPEG2. Another popular choice is CCE, demo is free to d/load (puts watermark in MPEG file thou). You can buy the basic verison ($59) or the full verison (what is it $3k). To round out the list Mainconcept and Ulead also make programs.

Once you have the MPEG2 file there are a lot of programs you can use to author. If you just want a movie, audio track and chapters; IFOEdit will work (freeware). Anything above that (menus, clips, etc) and DVD Lab becomes a good choice (30day fully functional trail). TMPG Author is another popular choice but IMHO DVD Lab is slightly better. Both programs are $79. Above that the prices jump up, a lot.

If you don't care about quaility Nero can do it all for you :P

  5. No problem, my recent XviD to DVD conversion worked pretty well, just tinker with te settings till it worked, and dont give up, i must have goe through 8 attempts before the MPG came out. When you click the ifnal button to startthe encodin it may give an error, just click oka and then click the start button again.
