  1. I've just ripped my first dvds with this guide http://www.gizmobob.com/dvd9-dvd5.htm and it works allright

I just wondered if there's a way to make DVDFab compress the DVD so that it creates just one disc (--> and one video_ts.ifo file) and not automatically 2 (and two video_ts.ifo files) ?

I know there's the possibility to just strip the DVD down to the main movie in order to fit all on one DVD-R, but is there a possibility to fit the whole DVD incl. menu, extras etc on one DVD-R ?

Can anyone recommend a good alternative to DVDFab ? I heard about DVD Shrink, is this better ?

Any helping answer would be greatly appreciated !

    Thanks

  2. Pinnacle Instant Copy will do what you want with better results than
DVD Shrink and most of the others. If you want the highest quality
from a DVD9 duplicate, however, you either have to split the movie
or re-encode it using cinema craft encoder/procoder or similar dedicated
    mpeg encoder.

  3. Thanks. I use Instant Copy after DVDFab to create the image file (.pdi). For that process, InstantCopy need the video_ts.ifo file, which is what I was referring to in my original post. How can I prevent DVDFab from creating 2 "discs" (--> 2 video_ts.ifo files) ? Can it compress ?

Does cinema craft encoder do that ? Will this solve my problem ? I know I'm a pain, but I'm not so used to this, so please bear with me.

  4. Sorry.. misunderstood your problem. Perhaps your best approach
then is to use DVD Shink beta 5 to backup the whole DVD image
to your hard drive into a folder marked VIDEO_TS
(this creates one video_ts.ifo file). Select "No Compression"
for the whole DVD and ignore the warning about the size being too big. DVD Shrink can also remove any bits such as extra audio that you don't want.

Now start up Instant Copy and load the oversized DVD you
saved with DVD Shrink (the video_ts.ifo) .
Select customised resize if you wish
to choose what % of compression to allocate to what item
in the DVD. Either burn direct to DVD or write to the hard
disk as a pdi and burn later with dvddecrypter or instant
    copy itself.

While DVD Shrink can compress and thus remove the need
for Instant Copy, the improvement in quality is worth the extra
    time on a fast machine.

As an alternative, you can run anydvd and just use Instant Copy.
