  1. This is actually the Log file Nero provides, I saved it after I'd had two burns attempts fail giving me a beautiful DVD coasters. Anyone have suggestions? Just for background: I'm burning DVDs I made to another DVD+R, basically making copies using DVD Decrypter or copying the VIDEO_TS folder to the HD (I alternate, don't ask why) and then burning with Nero. I've made quite a few DVDs without problem until this error. Help please. Could it be firmware? I'm using Imation discs. THanks! -Mary

Gee it is much simplier than what you are trying to do. If in fact you are making copies of other DVD's you made. Why not use the copy function in Nero? Do you have a DVD-ROM besides your writer?

Every now and then Nero fails for me in a similiar fashion. I cancel the burn, push the disk back and and re-burn it. 80% of the time it's fine. It looks like it started to burn and failed, didn't burn anything.

Try burning after a fresh re-boot. Every now and then something causes a burner to go out in la-la land and not zero the burn head, or not read the disk right.

Have you changed media? Check the media ID of the coasters agains known good burns: Someone else could have manufactured thoses disks and your burner doesn't like them....

    jdizzy40-

Yes, I do cdwr/dvdrom and the dvdrw of course, and I've tried the copydiscs function on so many applications and for some reason it doesn't work for me. So I just did what someone suggested, rip the dvd I made to harddisk and then reburn the video-ts folder. [I only have 20GB that's why I can't just leave the Video_ts folder(s) ;D]

    Thanks!

    - Actually it did burn a little, I can see evidence on the disc. But thanks! I'll do that if I catch it before it actually burns. Also, it's done this to me before as well, but never thrice in a row. Yep, I did it again and it did hte same thing. Get this, I didn't realize that my roomate said she used this morning and she got a major error saying that Windows was missing some dll and needed to be reinstalled. So she said refreshed the systerm (NOT format or reinstall just refresh) to return all the needed files and etc...) so it should be good, I checked the programs/appz and everything was fine, nothing needed reinstalling included (nero) so my new question is, do I need to reinstall something for the drive? Ie: drivers?

    Thanks!

Well there should be no reason why the copy disc function should not work for you. Something must be wrong, corrupt etc. When I need a copy I simply use the copy function in Nero. Works for all DVD's.

    Smells like Nero.

Re-Boot, uninstall Nero, re-boot, install Nero, test. May be an ASPI layer issue? Or the drive is stuck in PIO mode (can't go fast enough). Search PIO mode for directions on how to reset it for your OS.

  9. Hey guys,

Decided to do a complete reinstall of the OS and of course Nero and all that. The roomate is not only a slob in real life but also on the PC, hehe bunch of crap on it anyway. So I sucked it up and saved everything and get this Nero is working just fine with the discs THANKS! Also, someone suggested moviefactory and it works great for authoring dvds and stuff so far so good. I use both whenever I need it. Thanks for all your help!
