  1. well.. maybe you could help me figure this out, i'm completely stumped..

I have about 200 (large) AVI files currently "burned" on cdr's.

Somthing must have been wrong with my burner, because almost 90% of these files are not able to be transfered from the cd by "copy/paste" method, etc.

I am trying to re-tranfer them onto a large hardrive... but i think "bad sectors" or "frames" are preventing me from doing this. For the most part... it is only one or two spots in the file that cause the whole operation to fault.

I reviewed a few articles in the article section, but i am still completely lost. IF anyone has had similar problems and knows of any solutions or the "apropriate" articles and instructions, i would very much appreaicte advice..

    thanks

  2. So if you "explore " the CD, you can't just drag them over to your harddrive? This should be a simple window OS file transfer. Shouldn't matter what type of file it is.

    - You have enough free space on your drive?
    - Is the disc or files protected somehow?
    - Can you transfer them to a different hard drive?
    - Will the files play from the disc?

Like you said, they could be corrupt from the Burn process.

  3. the files are definatley corrupt. They are "movies" and will play... to a certain point.. and at that point it will say "data disc aborted, etc"... if i fast foward the "movie" past that little point they will keep playing.

there is obviously some kind of error, but i dont see why that should effect file-transfer

i wanna take them off the cd's... and put them on the hardrive.. but its just not working.,

thats why i'm asking for help.. again, if anyone can help, im all ears

    thanks again

the problem is read error on the disks .... try cleaning them or try copying them using a different cdrom drive as i often find that disk that cannot be read by one drive work perfectly on another

That's what I do for recovery from CD media.

Maybe OnTrack if you have it.

  8. would CloneCD or Alchohol 120% or Blindwrite work....they are for data extraction even when the CD is protected with junk sectors....maybe they would work, if ISObuster doesnt.
