  1. I know I have seen this problem before, most of the stuff I read says its a failing laser. Could it be bad media? I am using a Plextor 504A and memorex+R 4x discs. I had three discs out of 25 come up with Burn Failed Power Calibratin Error, the disk is still empty because it had not written anything, so I took the disc out and replaced with the next disc in the spindle and it burned fine. I had this happen three times. Any suggestions?

  2. it usually refers to your writing to fast for your computer, so write at 1x. Its all discussed at the manf websites.

  3. I do not believe this to be true. I have made quite a few just fine. All fine if I replace the disc I get the error with and replace with a different disc it burns fine, I think its bad media.

  4. I would agree it's bad media.

Power calibration error means that the laser could not adjust itself (powerwise) to the dvdr inserted.

I would wager that if you swapped the Memorex for Ritek G04's, the problem would not reoccur.
