hey, when i try to encode my AVI files into VCD files using ffmpegx, fmpegx spits out a .mpg file, a .mv1 file, and an .mp2 file (i used the VCD preset). when i preview the .mpg file before burning, i notice that the audio and video are completely out of sync by about 4 seconds. so i took a look at the .mv1 file and the .mp2 file and noticed that they are different lengths. how can i fix this?
here's a look of what the encoding process looked like:

    Input #0, avi, from '/Users/sylviabaek/Movies/fruit_basket_01-05/fruit basket 01.AVI':
    Stream #0.0: Video: msmpeg4, 480x360, 23.98 fps, 800 kb/s
    Stream #0.1: Audio: mp3, 44100 Hz, stereo, 127 kb/s
    Output #0, yuv4mpegpipe, to 'pipe:':
    ...

.. i am using the newest version (0.0.9)

  4. And have you enabled "Decode with Quicktime"?

yes i have checked the "Decode with quicktime" option.
the video file is always 3 seconds shorter than the audio file so it doesnt match up.

I'm checking with the 0.8d version, just for basic encoding for home videos to mpeg.

Now I'm trying to do all the process with ffmepgx. I use the ffmpegx engine to encode, and demux + remux with tmpgenc to ensure dvd playing. (The ffmpegx encoder works fantastic, but it's incompatible with my dvd player)

I'll get the videos with a capture card with the PC. I'll never with the same mode, just to check how to improve the capture. Then, I'll left in the mac and encode with ffmpegx.

Well. I've the same problem with the two last avi...no sync with audio and video in the dvd? I cannot understand, because the first two that I encode to mpeg1 has no problem!.

    Any suggestions?

    Another question:

How could I "repair" the out-of-sync mpeg1, better without re-capturing, only with the mpeg1?

    Thanks.

thanks to everyone who was trying to help me out! i fixed the problem.. turns out the "Decode with quicktime" button would not be checked after i did it the first time, so that all my encodings thereafter were out of sync. duh~ thanks for everyones help
