i recently bought a NEC DVD R/W and use to burn downloaded films,although i can watch them on my computor i cannot watch them using my LG 3200E stand alone dvd player is this usual and will i have to buy another dvd player to watch these films

Try looking up your model in the DVD PLAYERS section. See if owners have left comments about what media works best for them.
Do the same with media brand/type in DVD MEDIA.
It can be tricky finding the right combination of equipment and media.
If info is scarce, search this site top-right corner for the same names/brands and see if there are existing threads related to those products.There's no place like 127.0.0.1
