A bitmap is just a graphic file format = .bmp

You create them yourself in any graphics editing program.

What are you trying to do? Overlay a new bitmap in place of a watermark?

With logoaway, it is made to blend/smear the existing logo (watermark you call it.) I don't know why you are using 2 filters at once for that.

Or is that not what you meant to say?

    - I read your other posts and you seem to keep referring to whatever you have on your movie as a "watermark". That's a term for something completely different than a logo. Is what you have a small graphic area like those that identify the TV station, in a corner? Does it move at all? Is it there throughout the length of the movie?
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

  3. http://www.republika.pl/voidon/virtualdub/ladocs301/logoaway.html#alpha

explains how to use the alpha channel, which is what you're talking about.

a bitmap is a .bmp file - an uncompressed, 2D, still image on Windows computers.

Microsoft Paint makes bitmap files, and so do a lot of other programs.

The part of the guide I linked to above explains how to use Paint Shop Pro to manipulate the bitmaps for use with logoaway, but you can use a lot of other cheap/freeware graphics tools I imagine.

Finally, I really am not trying to be rude here, but this is the 3rd time I've referred you back to the exact same web page to answer another of your questions about this.

Might it be an idea to actually read the page before asking another question which is answered on there?

    cheers,

  4. sorry druid.
but the thing im trying to get rid of is not a logo or a timer as such.
is a relatively see through object.like a smear.and it is there through the whole movie.

by the way,i cant find a download for ms paint?
could you recommend any to me?

    You can't , quit trying.

It's already been de-logo'd. A smear that's not a Logo but not the movie either? It's less obtrusive than the original logo.

  6. no - i'm sorry mate, I'm having a bit of a bad day!!

Right - Gees asked you this above in her edited message..

Is the watermark in one fixed place throughout the movie?

Is it small and in one corner, for example?

If you say it's like a smear, rather than a transparent logo...

...is it possible that it was a logo, and someone else has removed it with something like logoaway? [edit - gazorgan has come to the same conclusion and posted before me here!]

All this filter is going to do is look at the pixels around the bit you want to remove, and try and make a guess at what it should put there. The effect can be a bit like a smear/smudge where the logo was.

If this is the case, I think you're just going to smudge it more.

I don't think you can download M$ paint; it usually comes bundled with Windoze. Try Start->Run then type in mspaint and hit enter.

There are loads and loads of freeware graphics app's that will do the job, if you don't want to use M$ Paint. Try looking on a site like webattack.

Feel free to post back - I promise I won't put another link in to the logoaway page!!

    cheers,
    mcdruid.
