  1. OK assuming I have ripped a DVD and have subtitles in the VOB file(s) as well as AC3 audio.

I'd like to re-author (dont ask why its too long and dull).... and keep the AC3 and Subs.

Does anyone know a SIMPLE LOWCOST prog that keeps Subs? I know I can keep AC3 with Ulead's programs but Subs?

    Thanks

Ifoedit but it is very limited.

If you have the subs in the vob files you can use dvdlab. If not you can add the subs with ifoedit and srt2sup and then use dvdlab,

  4. Hi you two.

deuteros, could you tell us a bit more about what "re-authoring" you intend to do on this title?

  5. Nothing special... taking the movie off one side of a flipper and the extras (small) off side 2 and making a menu that plays what I want for both. Without losing subs.

I did do it with DVDLab but lost subs cos I didnt have that guide to show me... I'm a muppet ya see!!

  6. Oh I See.

I would have suggested DVD Shrink, but for best quality you'd probably have to loose the menu and make a movie-only backup on the first disc.
If the extras are small, you could probably get away with using "Still-Pictures" for the movie title, remove all its audio/subpicture streams, and you'd be able to keep everything on the second disc.

Unless I misunderstood what you want to achieve, as if it's to record both sides of the flipper on one DVD-R, that cannot be done with DVD Shrink without loosing the menu.
