  1. I am trying to convert video from my DV Cam to VCD or even DVD. I have checked on dvdrhelp.com and doom9.org. I am using Windows Movie Maker to capture the video from my cam to an avi file. The problem is the avi file is type-1. If it was type-2 the TMPGEnc would give me what I need, I think. Anyway can someone point me in the right direction. Should I use something else besides Windows Movie Maker. I have Adobe Premier 6.0 but I do not have it loaded right now. Would that be a better choice or would I need a newer version for it to be helpful. TIA

I use DVIO.exe to capture from my DV camcorder and it works great. It is freeware, and you can get it in the tools section at left. It captures it as a Type-2 .avi file and you can use this file in Windows Movie Maker or any other editing program you want. TMPgenc will also recognize this file.

  6. Thanks. I will try DVIO out. Sounds like just what I was looking for. I will let you guys know how it works out but it sounds like you already know it will work.
