  1. In order to shrink the movie, is it better to do "STILL" the extras and Menus? or is better to compress to maximum the extras and menus?

I have been doing "STILL" the extras but I noticed that in my Pioneer DV-434 DVD player the movie sometimes stops and I have to keep pressing the forward botton for the movie to continue playing. However, in a new $60.00 Apex DVD player all the movies play fine except a litte slow in the begining of the disc. I think there is something wrong with the menus.

What do you guys do with the extras? Compress? Still? I wish I could completely remove them.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  2. As an experiment try using re author mode to create a DVD with no menu. Does it stop and start too?

I don't think it matters wether you choose to compress the extras or to use stills. Your DVD should still play smoothly. No stopping and starting and no "a little slow at the beginning".

  3. I'll do that experiment right now. Let's see what happens. Perhaps my Pioneer DVD player is retiring already.

    Your suggestion is very appreciated.

  4. Thanks again Presto,

My experiment worked really good! The movie plays with no problems at all in my Pioneer DVD player.

    More questions,

How would I select wide screen instead of standard?
Does DVDShrink chooses by default wide screen?
Or would I see 2 Tiles one wide screen and tile 2 standard screen?
When backing up the movie with both Dolby and DTS, when playing the movie, how would I select DTS if the movie doesn't have a menu to select one or the other one? Would DVDShrink create the option? Or by default would it play dolby? Thanks.

  5. I'm suprised that eliminating the menu fixed your video problem. I've never had menu problems with DVD Shrink.

Or would I see 2 Tiles one wide screen and tile 2 standard screen?
That is my understanding. If a DVD offers widescreen and fullscreen that almost always means it contains two complete versions of the movie.

I'm not sure but I think you just push the "audio" button on your remote. It should switch to the new audio and probably pop up a little text to tell you which audio you have chosen.

Want to create a nice menu for you DVD? Get the free trial of Tmpgenc DVD Author. It will import ripped DVD and let you create a new menu and chapter points. If you try Tmpgenc DVD Author you will end up buying it.
