MPG or AVI to .str?

Ok, here's a good one. I want to convert MPG's or AVI's to play in my Playstation. I know the format is a .str, and I've found tools out there to convert from .str to .mpg and .avi, but nothing in the reverse. I have some cool clips I'd love to play in my playstation, mostly of game movies, just to screw with my friends...

Anyone know of a way without buying that VGA card or whatever it is for the PSx?

I can play non-psx CD's in my PSx, just to let you know... I have it modded.

The only .STR converter I know of only accepts uncompressed RGB AVI files with uncompressed audio and these are HUGE!!! . Then there's the problem of creating a PSX movie disk, there are apps out there to do that, but I couldn't get any to work.
