How would i batch encode several videos, so i dont have to keep running back and forth for each one to finish and to start a new one?? I have tried going to file and batch encode but every video says that it is an illegal stream format... what do i do???

1) Set up each file you want to encode as normal (bitrate, template, etc.)
2) Choose File | Save Project.
3) Repeat for all files you want to encode
4) Choose File | Batch encode, add all projects and hit run.
Each project is seperate, you can mix and match, the settings for each project are saved for each file.

Open TMPG, select the source files, set everything.
Select file> add current project to the batch list. Repeat as often as you like, then hit the "Run" buttom at the Batch Encode window.
Maybe it is more comfortable to save every project(.tpr), then select file >batch encode and add as many projects as you like. -
Ok, I'd like to jump in on this post.
I was looking for this as well - to encode to seperate .mpg files.
But, I use frameserving. I frameserve Virtualdub to tmpgenc,
using filters in Virtualdub (that I like better than tmpg, and
that I prefer to continue using in my encodes). Ok, so now,
how do I create projects and save (per project??) as each .mpg
file??
What I want to do is encode my .avi's, but up to 640mb (per
size of CD) and stop for a moment to flush or save 640mb, and
then continue with encode till we hit the 640mb or end of encoding.
Is this posible? I have so much problems with audio sync if I cut
or join or merge or whatever, in ANY app I use, be it bbmpeg,
womble, tmpg, ect. If I were to have the ability stated above, this
would end my audio problems!!
Lets face it, all our encodes are fine, as long as we don't have to
cut or split them to fit on more than one CD. So, any chance on
what I'm asking posible?
Thank you very much!! -
You are right, never edit a MPEG, if you have another choice. Use TMPG's source range to "split" the file, that means, encode in 2 or more parts. Have a look at Sefy's guide. Save the projects and batch encode.

I forgot to mention something. If you encode to VCD compliant MPEG-1, up to 74 minutes will fit on 1 74min CD.
If you encode to XVCD or SVCD, calculate the bitrate of each part. A proper calculation is only possible, if you encode in CBR or multipassVBR mode. -
Thank you to everyone who replied to my post... and sorry to the administratino for posting it on th wrong area.
My videos came out great thanx
